Jonah tried to run away from the presence of the Lord. He boarded a ship, hoping to escape God’s call, but soon the ship was caught in a violent storm. Jonah was thrown into the sea and swallowed by a great fish, where he remained for three days and three nights.
Jonah found himself hemmed in—behind and before. In that dark and lonely place, he realized an important truth: there is no hiding from God. No matter how far we run, God’s presence is always with us. From the depths of the sea, Jonah cried out to the Lord, and God heard him.
The Bible reminds us in Psalm 139:9–10 that even if we go to the farthest parts of the sea, God’s hand will still lead us and hold us. From the depths, Jonah prayed and promised to obey the Lord. He declared, “Salvation comes from the Lord.” God then commanded the fish to release Jonah onto dry land, and Jonah went on to do what God had asked him to do.
God is everywhere, and running away from Him does not remove our responsibilities. Delayed obedience often brings trouble, but obeying God willingly brings peace and purpose.
Is there a place or task God wants you to go or do, just like Jonah? 🤔
Stay blessed 😊
